JOSEPH

“Even though you intended to do harm to me, God intended it for good, in order to preserve a numerous people, as he is doing today.”

Genesis 50:20

Joseph submitted himself to God’s dealings, in the midst of so many adverse situations, he never stopped trusting the Lord and he waited on Him.  Holding on to God as his only source of wisdom and intelligence makes him a TRUE HERO!

Joseph was the son of Jacob and Rachel, the grandson of Isaac.  Jacob loved Joseph more than he loved Joseph’s brothers because he was the son of his old age, and he gave him a robe of many colors.  Joseph had two dreams that hinted that his family would bow before him.  Jealous and angry because of the dreams, the brothers, who hated him, thought up evil acts against him.  They sold him as a slave for twenty shekels of silver (Genesis 37:28). But Joseph trusted in the Lord and did not agree to sin; the Lord stayed with him and he became the interpreter of Pharaoh’s dreams in Egypt.  Joseph predicted a period of seven years of great plenty and seven years of famine.  Satisfied as he was with Joseph, Pharaoh appointed him governor of Egypt and in the years of plenty he stored the surplus of food.  Joseph’s brothers came from Canaan to buy food during the famine.  He forgave his brothers and treated them well. Jacob met with them in his last years and the family was reunited again (Genesis 47:31).
